How-To: Power Up with Protein

Mindful moment: Self holding

Life’s busy. Would you like to take a moment for yourself?

Before thinking about ways to fine-tune your eating, take a moment to put your day aside.

Self holding

Giving yourself a hug, or self-holding, is a great trick when you need to calm yourself in times of stress.

Press play to close your eyes and listen to the steps or read through them below.

Your own sense of touch can help your nervous system calm down in times of stress. It’s easy, simply:

  1. Get in a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down.
  2. Place one hand on your forehead and the other on your heart.
  3. Gently bring your attention to the area between your two hands—the area inside your body between your head and your heart.
  4. Breathe in and out slowly, simply feeling what is going on in your body in the area between your hands.
  5. Do this for as long as you can—or as long as you need to in order to feel yourself shift into a more relaxed state.

Done!

Think about one thing

How did that make you feel?
