Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get food stamps or SNAP benefits?
You can click here to find out if you’re eligible for SNAP benefits. (These used to be known as food stamps and are still called that by some people.) On that page, you’ll find a link to apply. You can also access resources to help you through the process.
Eat Easy is separate from the SNAP process—we are 100% about helping you explore new concepts and ideas.
Why do you want my personal information?
Eat Easy asks about age, gender, race and ethnicity to help us understand who is using the site and tailor information to you. This data also helps us show who we assist—we send totals (no personal information about you) to the state and national groups we report to.
Do I need an account?
You do not have to create an account for How-Tos, Table Talk or other parts of Eat Easy. We offer accounts in case you want to track your progress and see where you left off.
Do these ideas work for everyone?
Eat Easy How-Tos are based on SNAP-Ed guidelines created by the USDA. SNAP-Ed aims to help you stretch your SNAP dollars, shop for and cook healthy meals, and lead an active lifestyle. Eat Easy does not offer medical advice. For specific nutrition and diet needs, please follow the direction of your healthcare provider.
Why did SNAP-Ed NY create Eat Easy?
In 2020, SNAP-Ed NY began to research and develop an online site that would meet the needs of these adults who want to tune up their eating.
The mindful moments on Eat Easy and parts of some How-Tos were inspired by Leah’s Pantry, a nonprofit in California that aims to ensure all people are nourished, no matter what their income or resources. They also helped guide some of our planning in the early stages. Thank you, Leah’s Pantry!
